Kodand.com ("Kodand", "we", "our", or "us") operates a free English–Hindi–Gujarati dictionary, word-meaning lookup, and quiz website, along with free browser extensions and free Android apps. This Privacy Policy explains what limited information we collect when you use our website, extensions, and apps (together, the "Service"), and how we use it. We are based in India.

Kodand does not have user accounts — there is no login, registration, or profile. We collect very little personal data, as described below. By using the Service, you agree to this Privacy Policy.

Information we collect

Kodand is free to use and does not require you to create an account or provide personal details to look up word meanings or take quizzes. The information we process is limited to the following:

• Usage and technical data: When you visit the site, basic technical information such as your IP address, browser type, device characteristics, and the pages you view may be processed automatically by our analytics, advertising, and security providers (described below).
• Contact form details: If you use our Contact page, we collect the name, email address, and message you voluntarily submit, used only to read and respond to your message.
• Search queries: The words you search for are processed to return dictionary meanings and suggestions. We do not link these searches to your identity.

We do not sell any products, take orders, or process payments on Kodand, so we do not collect or store credit card or other payment information.

How we use information

We use the limited information described above to:

• Provide dictionary lookups, word meanings, and quizzes;
• Respond to messages you send through the Contact form;
• Understand anonymous, aggregated usage so we can improve the Service;
• Display advertising that helps keep Kodand free; and
• Maintain the security, availability, and performance of the Service.

Advertising and Google AdSense

Kodand displays ads through Google AdSense to keep the Service free. Google and its partners may use cookies and similar technologies to serve and measure ads, including personalized advertising based on your prior visits to this and other websites.

We do not use Facebook Pixel or any social-media advertising trackers on Kodand.

Analytics and security

Google Analytics: We use Google Analytics (gtag) to collect anonymous, aggregated statistics about how the site is used, such as page views and general traffic patterns. This helps us understand which content is useful and improve the Service. See Google's Privacy Policy for details.

Cloudflare: We use Cloudflare as a content delivery network and security provider. To protect the Service against abuse and to deliver pages quickly, Cloudflare may process your IP address and set an essential security cookie. See Cloudflare's Privacy Policy for details.

Cookies

Cookies are small pieces of data stored by your browser. Kodand and its providers use a small number of cookies in three categories:

• Advertising cookies set by Google to serve and measure ads;
• Analytics cookies set by Google Analytics for anonymous usage statistics; and
• Essential / security cookies set by Cloudflare to protect and deliver the Service.

Most browsers let you block or delete cookies in their settings. Blocking advertising or analytics cookies will not prevent you from using the dictionary or quizzes.

Browser extensions and apps

Our free browser extensions (Chrome and Firefox) and free Android apps let you look up the meaning of a word you select or search for. When you do this, the selected word is sent to Kodand's dictionary API so the meaning can be returned to you.

The extensions and apps do not require an account, and they do not collect your personal documents or your general browsing history.

Donations

Kodand is free. If you choose, you may make a voluntary donation on our Support Us page. Donations are optional and non-refundable, and are processed by PayPal. We do not receive or store your payment card details — any payment information you provide is handled by PayPal under PayPal's own privacy policy and terms.

Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, data protection laws such as the EU/UK GDPR and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) give you rights over your personal information. Because Kodand has no accounts and collects very little data, these rights mainly apply to information you send us through the Contact form and to advertising data handled by our providers. Where applicable, you may:

• Request access to the personal information we hold about you;
• Request that we correct or delete that information;
• Opt out of personalized advertising via Google Ads Settings.

We do not sell your personal information. To exercise any of these rights, please contact us and we will respond within the time required by applicable law.

Children's privacy

Kodand is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it.

Links to other websites

The Service may contain links to websites we do not operate or control. This Privacy Policy does not apply to those websites, and we are not responsible for their content or privacy practices. We encourage you to review the privacy policy of any website you visit.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to the Service or to applicable law. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted means you accept the updated policy.
